Former Los Angeles Jr. King Kailer Yamamoto made his NHL debut last night (Oct. 4) as a member of the Edmonton Oilers in their 3-0 victory over the Calgary Flames.

Earlier this year, the Oilers signed Yamamoto, who was picked in the first-round by the club in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft (22nd overall), to a three-year entry-level contract.

Yamamoto, a forward, appeared in 65 games for the Western Hockey League's (WHL) Spokane Chiefs last season, posting 99 points (42 goals) to go along with a plus-14 rating.

Jeff Scarbrough, a beloved member of our Los Angeles Jr. Kings family, passed away on Sunday.

A memorial service for Jeff, the father to sons Justin (Jr. Kings Bantam Minor forward) and Brett; daughter Kaitlyn; and husband of Sandy - a selfless volunteer within the club - will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. at Riviera United Methodist Church in Redondo Beach.

The Los Angeles Jr. Kings’ Pee Wee AAA Minor team got its season off to a stellar start, taking home the top prize in its division at this year’s Compuware Honeybaked AAA Invitational, which was contested last weekend (Sept. 15-17) in suburban Detroit.

The Jr. Kings forged a near-flawless 5-0-1 record at the showcase, including a 5-0 triumph over Compuware in the championship game.

Keeping the cupboards stocked with eager and enthusiastic players at the youngest levels is paramount when it comes to solidifying the longstanding strength and success of any youth hockey program, and no club recognizes that fact better than the Los Angeles Jr. Kings.

The Edmonton Oilers have signed 2017 first-round NHL Entry Draft selection Kailer Yamamoto, a former Los Angeles Jr. King, to a three-year entry-level contract.

Yamamoto, picked 22nd overall by the club, appeared in 65 games for the Western Hockey League's (WHL) Spokane Chiefs last season, posting 99 points (42 goals) to go along with a plus-14 rating.

The 5-foot-8, 153-pound forward from Washington has appeared in 190 career WHL games, racking up 227 points on 84 goals. He's also played in 12 postseason games, recording 10 points (three goals).
