The Edmonton Oilers have signed 2017 first-round NHL Entry Draft selection Kailer Yamamoto, a former Los Angeles Jr. King, to a three-year entry-level contract.

Yamamoto, picked 22nd overall by the club, appeared in 65 games for the Western Hockey League's (WHL) Spokane Chiefs last season, posting 99 points (42 goals) to go along with a plus-14 rating.

The 5-foot-8, 153-pound forward from Washington has appeared in 190 career WHL games, racking up 227 points on 84 goals. He's also played in 12 postseason games, recording 10 points (three goals).

It’s been close to a year since the Los Angeles Kings assumed operations of the Los Angeles Jr. Kings organization, and if you ask anyone within the program they’ll tell you the transition has paid immediate dividends.

Jr. Kings Families and Friends,

We are extremely excited about the upcoming 2017-18 season and are dedicated to the growth and development of our players this season.

On Monday, August 28th, we will once again celebrate the kickoff of the Jr. Kings’ hockey season with our 5th Annual Golf Tournament at Mountain Gate Country Club.

Four former Los Angeles Jr. Kings - forwards Cole Guttman, Jake McGrew, Jason Robertson and Kailer Yamamoto - were selected in this year’s NHL Entry Draft, which was conducted on June 23-24 in Chicago.

The Edmonton Oilers chose Yamamoto (pictured) in the first round (22nd overall).

USA Hockey highlighted the Los Angeles Jr. Kings' efforts at last month’s Tour de Pier in the latest issue of USA Hockey Magazine (see Page 8).
