Stevens helps lift U.S. Under-18 Team to gold

Former Los Angeles Jr. King Nolan Stevens helped lift the U.S. Men's National Under-18 Team to a gold-medal performance at this year's International Ice Hockey Federation Men's Under-18 World Championship, which ran from from April 17-27 in Lappeenranta, Finland.

The U.S. finished with a 6-1 record at the event, including a 5-2 triumph over the Czech Republic in the championship game today (Sunday).

Stevens, a Northeastern University recruit, is in his second year with USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program. The forward played the 2011-12 season with the Jr. Kings’ 16U AAA team under coach Louis Pacella.

This marks Team USA's sixth-straight gold-medal game at the tournament. Team USA has won the gold five times and silver once in those six contests. It's also the U.S.'s record 11th consecutive medal, including seven gold, three silver and one bronze, at the event.
