Six alums to compete in NCAA tourney

Six former Los Angeles Jr. Kings will compete in this year’s NCAA Division I national tournament, which begins this weekend with regionals at various locations around the country.

Among them is Boston College freshman goaltender Thatcher Demko. The San Diego native is a top-rated NHL draft prospect for the No. 2-ranked Eagles.

Other Jr. Kings graduates participating in this year’s NCAA tourney are Colgate University junior forward Dan Gentzler (Manhattan Beach) and University of Denver sophomore forward Gabe Levin (Marina del Rey).

Denver sophomore defenseman Wade Bennett (Gardena), Quinnipiac University sophomore defenseman Alex Barron (Glendora) and Robert Morris University sophomore defenseman Chase Golightly (Temecula) are also representing their schools in the NCAAs.

The winners of their respective NCAA regionals this weekend will advance to the Frozen Four in Philadelphia, where the semifinals will be played on April 10 and the championship game on April 12.
