Pee Wee A2 team off to CAHA State Championships

The Los Angeles Jr. Kings’ Pee Wee A2 team will compete for a title at this year’s California Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA) A/B State Championships, which will be contested from April 8-10 at Sharks Ice-San Jose.

“We’re extremely proud to represent the Jr. Kings at this prestigious event,” said head coach Tony Rudy, who leads the team along with assistant Berkley Hoagland. “We have an enthusiastic and dedicated group of kids who've accomplished amazing things this year.”

The Jr. Kings, who finished regular-season play in the Southern California Amateur Hockey Association (SCAHA) with a 14-1-1 record (tied for second place in the division with 29 points), will open pool play at states on Friday with a game against the Redwood City Black Stars (10:45 a.m.) before taking on the Tri-Valley Blue Devils (7:15 a.m.) and Channel Islands Riptide on Saturday (5:45 p.m.).

The championship game is set for Sunday (10:30 a.m.).

The Pee Wees, which celebrated two tournament championships this season - the Tinseltown Labor Day HockeyFest and Golden State Hockey Rush - finished this year’s SCAHA playoffs with a 4-1 record.

“We hope to bring home a banner as a symbol of the dedication every player and family within this tight-knit group has put forth,” Rudy added. “They represent the club proudly.”
