LA Jr Kings Announce 2013-14 Mite Program

June 21, 2013 - Last week, the SCAHA Board of Directors voted to approve and subsidize an original Mite format that is consistent with the guidelines of the USA Hockey American Development Model (ADM). The ADM is a nationwide model for successfully developing American hockey players. It is a tool that "will ensure every player will have the same chance to succeed" while having fun playing the game of hockey. The ADM is a roadmap "designed specifically to help kids reach their full potential". (

The LAJK strongly support the ADM model. We are in the process of augmenting the implementation of these guidelines into all our club teams at every level. We feel the most significant opportunity to realize the ADM benefits will be through our New LAJK Mite Program launching in the fall 2013-14. Our hockey committee provided valuable insight regarding best practices and how to integrate ADM principles into a travel hockey club environment. We believe the resulting LAJK Mite program not only applies the ADM but offers families a significant value added opportunity to enhance their player's experience playing hockey.

Our mite program highlights are: Up to 5 scheduled ice touches per week: 3 practice/skill development sessions each week, Cluster Events (4 x 20 mins games), 1 in-house (pond) game. Focus on skill development with and emphasis on fun and retention.
