Jr. Kings grad Demko in Hobey Baker running

Former Los Angeles Jr. King Thatcher Demko is one of the leading candidates to win this year’s Hobey Baker Memorial Award, which is given annually to the nation’s top NCAA Division I men’s player.

Demko, a junior goaltender at Boston College, holds a 19-4-2 record this season to compliment an impressive 1.64 goals-against average and a .940 save percentage.

A San Diego native, Demko was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the second round (36th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

The field of over 60 Hobey candidates will be paired down to 10 in March, then three in early April.

This year’s Hobey Baker Award winner will be announced on April 8 during the Frozen Four, which will be showcased on April 7 and 9 in Tampa, Fla.
