Jr. Kings alum Alferd makes NCAA D-I commitment

Former Los Angeles Jr. King Riley Alferd has committed to play his NCAA Division I hockey the University of Nebraska-Omaha beginning in the fall.

Alferd, a 19-year-old forward from Vancouver, Wash., is in second season with the British Columbia Hockey League’s (BCHL) Penticton Vees where he has 17 goals for 37 points after 39 games.

“I’m very proud of Riley,” said Vees head coach Fred Harbinson. “He’ll bring an energy and commitment to winning to UNO.”

Considered one of the best two-way centers in the BCHL, Alferd plays a prominent role on both the Vees’ power-play and penalty-killing units.
