Four teams ready for CAHA A/B state championships

Four Los Angeles Jr. Kings A, BB and B teams will compete for California Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA) state titles this weekend when they face off against the rest of the state’s top A, BB and B clubs at Sharks Ice-San Jose from April 11-13.

The program’s Pee Wee A3 team, which celebrated a Southern California Amateur Hockey Association championship last month at El Segundo’s Toyota Sports Center, will open states against the South Lake Tahoe Grizzlies on Friday at 9:45 a.m.

The Jr. Kings’ Midget 18U A squad will open its tournament with a 8:30 p.m. meeting against the Capital Thunder on Friday.

On Friday at 4:45 p.m., the Squirt A2 team begins states with a 4:45 p.m. contest against the Tri-Valley Blue Devils.

The Squirt BB3 club continues its quest for a state championship on Friday at 3 p.m. against the Blue Devils.

The two teams with the most points at the conclusion of the three-game round robin portion of the tournament will play in their respective division’s championship games on Sunday.

DEMKO IN FROZEN FOUR: Boston College freshman goaltender Thatcher Demko (San Diego), a former Los Angeles King, will compete in the Frozen Four semifinals today (Thursday) against Union College (2 p.m. PST). The winner will advance to Saturday’s NCAA championship game against the victor of today’s other semifinal pitting the University of Minnesota against University of North Dakota.
