Four with Jr. Kings ties selected in NAHL draft

Four current and former Los Angeles Jr. Kings players were selected in this year’s North American Hockey League (NAHL) Entry Draft, which was conducted today (Tuesday).

Among those chosen was forward Jared Pike, who was selected in the second round (38th overall) by the Bismarck Bobcats. Pike skated with the Jr. Kings’ 18U AAA team this past season.

Another member of the program’s 2013-14 18U AAA team - forward Evan Weinger - went in the 10th round (188th overall) to the Austin Bruins.

Defenseman Michael Damien, who played on the Jr. Kings' 16U AAA team two years ago, was chosen in the second round (28th overall) by the Amarillo Bulls.

Former Jr. King Alec Mehr, a forward, was selected in the ninth round (172nd overall) by the Wenatchee Wild.

The NAHL is the only USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier II Junior A league in the country and one of the top developers of NCAA players.
