Four A/B teams to play in CAHA state championship games

Four Los Angeles Jr. Kings teams will play for California Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA) A/B state championships tomorrow (Sunday) after finishing as the top two teams in round-robin play in their respective divisions (total points) over the weekend at Sharks Ice-San Jose.

The program’s Pee Wee A3 team, which celebrated a Southern California Amateur Hockey Association championship last month at El Segundo’s Toyota Sports Center, went a perfect 3-0 (nine points) in its round robin and will play in the championship game against the Oakland Bears (four) at 7:45 a.m.

In the Squirt A bracket, the club’s A2 squad finished with a 1-1-1 mark (five points) in the round robin and will face off against Oakland (six) in its division’s championship game (7 a.m.).

The Jr. Kings’ Squirt BB3 team went 1-1-1 (seven points) in the preliminary round at states, advancing it to the title game against the San Francisco Sabercats (eight) at 7:15 a.m.

In the 18U A division, the Jr. Kings finished 2-1 (five points) in the round robin and will take on the Capital Thunder (eight) in the finals at 1:30 p.m.

The two teams with the most points (three for a win, two for an overtime/shootout win, one for an overtime/shootout loss) at the conclusion of the three-game round-robin portion of the tournament play in their respective division’s championship games.
