Former Jr. King, Mitch Callahan, makes NHL debut

On Tuesday, Sept. 17, former Jr. King Mitch Callahan made his NHL debut with the Detroit Red Wings. Mitch was taken 180th overall in the 6th round of the 2009 NHL draft.

During the 2011-12 season, Callahan appeared in 48 of 76 games for the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins in his first pro season. Used mostly in a lower line, forechecking role, he was third on the Griffins with 103 penalty minutes and finished minus-three with 3 goals and 9 assists.
