Former Jr. King Demko drafted by Canucks

Former Los Angeles Jr. King Thatcher Demko was selected today (Saturday, June 28) in the second round (36th overall) of this year’s NHL Entry Draft by the Vancouver Canucks.

As a freshman goaltender at Boston College this past season, the San Diego native posted a 16-5-3 record to compliment a .919 save percentage and played a key role in the Eagles’ Beanpot title and Hockey East regular-season championship.

The youngest player to compete in the NCAA Division I ranks in 2014-15 - the 1995-born turns 19 in December - Demko also backstopped Boston College to a Frozen Four appearance.

The draft was conducted on Friday and Saturday at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
