Five headed to SCAHA finals

Five Los Angeles Jr. Kings A, BB and B teams advanced to the finals of the Southern California Amateur Hockey Association (SCAHA) playoffs after winning their respective divisions’ semifinals games this weekend (March 15-16) at The Rinks-Anaheim Ice.

All division finals will be contested next weekend (March 22-23) at El Segundo’s Toyota Sports Center.

The winners of each division will compete in the California Amateur Hockey Association state championships, which will be showcased from April 11-13 at Sharks-Ice San Jose.

In the Squirt A division, Jr. Kings 2 downed Jr. Kings 1, 7-2, in the semis on Sunday to advance to finals, where they’ll take on the California Golden Bears (Sunday at 8:15 a.m.).

The Jr. Kings’ Squirt BB3 team bested the California Wave on Saturday, 3-2 in overtime, to earn the right play in the finals, and will face off against the Ontario Jr. Reign (Saturday at 11.15 a.m.).

The Squirt B team edged the California Heat on Saturday, 4-3, to advance to finals against the Channel Islands Riptide (Saturday at 9.30 a.m.), while the Jr. Kings’ Pee Wee AA3 team doubled-up the California Titans, 4-2, on Sunday to punch its ticket to the SCAHA championship game against the Golden Bears (Sunday at 11:15 a.m.).

In the Midget 18U A division, the Jr. Kings blanked the Anaheim Jr. Ducks on Sunday, 4-0, in its semis and will play for the title against the Pasadena Maple Leafs (Sunday at 4:30 p.m.).

In the Bantam B division, the Jr. Kings fell to OC Hockey Club in the semis, 5-3.
