Bantam AA1s improve to 2-0 at USA Hockey National Championships

The Los Angeles Jr. Kings’ Bantam AA1 team improved to 2-0 at the Tier II USA Hockey National Championships with a 10-1 thrashing of East Haven (Connecticut) today (Thursday) in Hackensack, N.J.

Dylan San Agustin unleashed for four goals and two assists in the rout, while Justin Ferrall (goal, three assists) and Shane Thesman (four assists) each picked up four points. Between the pipes, Griffin King turned back nine shots.

The Bantam AA1 squad will close its preliminary round against the Boston Jr. Eagles (2-0) on Friday (9:30 a.m.).

The Jr. Kings’ 16U AAA Major team (1-1) fell to Omaha AAA, 2-0, and will play St. Louis Blues AAA (1-0-0-1) on Friday at 6 p.m. in the final game of its preliminary round.

The Bantam Major team (1-1) dropped a 3-1 decision to the Syracuse Nationals on Thursday.

Nathan Gallo netted the only goal of the game for L.A., which will take on the Carolina Jr. Hurricanes (0-2) in the team’s final prelim game tomorrow at 2 p.m.

The Jr. Kings’ 18U AAA squad (0-2) fell to the Central Connecticut Capitals, 2-0, on Day 2 of nationals, and will face off against Michigan-based Belle Tire (1-1) on Friday at 10 a.m. in its final preliminary game.

The program’s three participating Tier I teams - Midget 18U AAA, 16U AAA Major and Bantam Major - are vying for titles in Green Bay, Wis., Nationals will run through April 6.
