14 invited to USA Hockey National Select Camps

Fourteen current and former Los Angeles Jr. Kings players have been invited to participate in this year’s USA Hockey National Select Camps after their performances at this month’s Pacific District Player Development Camps, which were held earlier this month at Sharks Ice-San Jose.

At the highly scouted national camps, which will be showcased in Amherst, N.Y., over the summer, players will compete with and against other top players from across the country in their age group.

1997-born selections (Select 17) include former Jr. Kings forward Robby Jackson, who was recently named the United States Hockey League (USHL) Rookie of the Year as a member of the Chicago Steel, and forward Alec Mehr, who is expected to play for the USHL’s expansion Bloomington (Ill.) Thunder in 2014-15.

Forward Dylan Strahan, who played for the Jr. Kings’ 16U AAA Major team this past season, was invited to the 98 camp (Select 16). Defenseman Garrett Foster of the club’s 2013-14 16U AAA Minor team was also selected to the 98 camp.

99-born selections (Select 15) include eight players from the Jr. Kings’ 2013-14 Bantam Major team: forwards Cole Guttman, Cooper Haar, Robert Herrman, Jacob McGrew and Cam Hausinger and defensemen Nicolo Rubino, John St. Ivany and Cam Ward.

Former Jr. Kings forwards Jack Lippis, Brannon McManus and Casey Rhodes were also invited to the 99 camp.

In addition, 12 players from the Jr. Kings’ 2013-14 Bantam Minor team were chosen to compete at this year’s Western Regional Multi-District High Performance Camp, along with other 2000-borns from the Rocky Mountain, Pacific and Northern Plains Districts, from June 14-19 in Colorado Springs.

They include forwards Nick Castro, Hirotaka Cox, Andrew DeCarlo, Tanner Ensign, Duke Fishman and Jin Lee; defensemen Junior Delgado, Noah Kim, Gabel Longshore, Nicholas Rittenhouse and Jackson Wozniak; and goaltender Benjamin Becker (alternate).

The 97 camp will run from June 26-July 2; the 98s from July 7-13; and the 99s from July 14-20.
